NAM Objectives
Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of AYUSH, approved and notified on 29.09.2014, and the Union Cabinet approved its continuation as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme from 01-04-2021 to 31-03-2026. The NAM guidelines may be downloaded from the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India website.
The basic objective of NAM is to promote AYUSH medical systems through cost-effective AYUSH services, strengthening educational systems, facilitating the enforcement of quality control of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani & Homoeopathy (ASU&H) drugs, and ensuring sustainable availability of ASU&H raw materials.
The scheme also envisages flexibility for effective implementation, leading to greater participation and ownership by State Governments and Union Territories.
Initially the Department of Health & Family Welfare was responsible for the management of all Institutions of Ayurveda in the state, besides allopathic. Ancient Science Ayurveda is widely acceptable in the State and the way of treatment is affordable to the masses in the State.
